Ford Chassis Innovation from 19th until 20th century

Chassis Innovation

Ford Model T (1911)
Ford Model T Chassis

Ford Model T design was extremely simple. The solid front and rear axles were lives, each set on a single transverse leaf spring. It use ladder type chassis.

Ford Taunus (Germany) 1950-1951

Ford Taunus is a family car categories. It has a long chassis and a streamlined body. It use ladder type chassis. It chassis has more details compared to Model T.

Ford Mustang 1970

The platform construction of Ford Mustang chassis is the first is the Ford first in mass market. Ford start to use monocoque chassis type which are the new invented technology created by Ford. It offer a good crash protection and space efficient.

Ford Mustang 1994

After almost 14 years rolling in the same chassis platform. Ford redesigned and restyle the Mustang for 1994. The chassis are  modernized and more details are added.

Ford GT 40

Ford GT 40 is one of the best sports car develop by Ford. It use the tubular space frame chassis technology. It has a circular section for a maximum strength. It is strong at any direction.

CHAPTER 2 : Discussion on: Technology invented or used.

FORD GT 40

The car was named the GT (for Grand Tourisme) with the 40 representing its overall height of 40 inches (1.02 m, measured at the windshield) as required by the rules.

Chassis in New Invented Technology(The New GT)

  • Computer modeling was used during chassis and body development and crash testing to shorten the time frame
  • cutting prototype requirements by 90 percent.
  • aluminium shim-nut systemto attach and locate body panels in proper position relative to the extruded space frame
  •  an aluminum extruded space frame - The alluminum chassis

INTRODUCTION CONT.

CHAPTER 1 : INTRODUCTION TO SYSTEM (CHASSIS)

Introduction to the system-chassis

What is Chassis?

The chassis means a frame the main structure to installed generally together with the engine, wheel, axles assembles, transmission, steering mechanism, brake, and suspension member are mounted and built with the purpose of supporting the vehicle and act as a backbone in a vehicle

It forms the main structure of the modern
automobile.

Type of Chassis

Advantages of Chassis
  • Absorbs reaction from the movement of engine and axle
  • Receives reaction forces of the wheels in acceleration and braking
  • Absorbs aerodynamic wind forces and road shocks through suspension
  • Absorbs major energy impact in an accident

GROUP INTRODUCTION

We are student from Bachelor of Engineering Technolgy in UniKL Malaysian Spanish Institute have to completed our assignment by grouping about The Automotive System.

Our group are made up of 7 members :

AMIR JUNAIDI
DANIAL HAIDAR
NURFARHANA BINTI ZAINAL
AHMAD SAUFI BIN SAFIAN
MOHAMAD NORIKMAL ALIF BIN ABDUL HALIM
 MUHD RIDHWAN BIN MUHD RUSLAN
MOHD KHOMAINI
MOHD IDZUL FAIZAL

The topic that has been given to our group is about Chassis based from FORD car models.

So, in this topic, we have been decided to used FORD GT40 as a model in our experimental.

Acknowlegedment

First and foremost, we would like to thank to our lecturer, Mr. Mohd.Nizam for the valuable guidance and advice. He inspired us greatly to finished an assignment. His willingness to motivate us contributed tremendously to our subject. We also would like to thank him for showing us some example that related with our carrier in future and for giving us opportunities to learn about automotive world during our classes.

Besides, we would like to thank the authority of Unikl Malaysian Spanish Institute for providing us with a good environment and facilities to complete our task. Finally, an honorable mention goes to our families and friends for their understandings and supports on us in completing this assignment.Without helps of the particular that mentioned above, we would face many difficulties in completion of this task.
